About Me

I'm a PhD Students in Systems neuroscience at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre - in the Branco Lab. I trained as a biologist in Milano and did a master and research internship in the Duguid lab in Edinburgh.

I started my PhD with an experimental project aimed at investigating the behavioural bases of decision making under threat. More recently, my focus has moved towards a more computational/theoretical perspective: my current interests revolve around ideas related to the computation through dynamics framework. I'm interested in the study of population dynamics and how they related to computations performed by neural circuits.

In my current project I'm investigating the role of several brain regions in the control of goal directed locomotion using multi-units recordings in freely moving animals and RNNs.

Alongside my research projects, I was lucky enough to get involved in several open source projects aimed at providing software which can be freely used by the research community.

Scidraw.io is a free open source repository of high quality drawings of animals, scientific setups and everything that might be useful for generating illutrations for presentations and papers.

Content hosted on scidraw.io is generated by individual scientists and is made freely available for anyone to use.

I've created scidraw.io together with Alex Harston.
